How Live Oak Arrests Work
The Live Oak Police Department handles law enforcement inside the city. The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office and state agencies also make arrests around the county seat. But no single office holds every record that follows.
The Sheriff's own jail page names the Suwannee County Jail as the booking point for every agency in the county. It lists Live Oak Police explicitly. That splits the mugshot trail three ways. LOPD keeps its incident and arrest reports. SCSO builds the county booking record and takes the intake photo. The Suwannee County Clerk of the Circuit Court then holds the criminal case file once prosecutors and the court get involved. SmartCOP charge rows often name LIVE OAK POLICE DEPARTMENT as the arresting agency, which ties a county booking back to a city arrest.
Live Oak counted 6,735 residents in the April 2020 Census. That makes it the county's largest incorporated city. Its county-seat role keeps it busy in local arrest news. A city name alone tells you little, though. Match the full name, booking number, booking time, arresting agency, and court case number whenever those fields show up.
Note: Live Oak Police writes the city report, while SCSO creates and controls the county jail intake record.
Where Live Oak Busted Mugshots Appear
The city police department does not publish its own daily arrest log, mugshot roster, or booking feed. The photo-bearing source is the county SmartCOP system instead. It opens to a rolling BOOKED Last 24 Hours view. It also takes custom searches by name, booking date, release date, and custody status. News sites and commercial aggregators come later in the trail, since they can lag, skip entries, or copy a field wrong.
| Channel | Photo? | Status | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| SCSO SmartCOP JAIL View | Adult photos observed | Official | Recent booking, current or released county record |
| Live Oak Police | No public photo feed found | Official | Police agency context and report custodian |
| Suwannee Clerk criminal court | Not a mugshot feed | Official | Filed charges, docket events, and disposition |
| Riverbend News | Sometimes in stories | News, selective | Recurring jail reports and reported local incidents |
| Busted Newspaper and Recently Booked | Often | Unofficial | Secondary discovery only; confirm every fact officially |
| Arrests.org, Mugshots.com, Mugshots.zone | Often or historical | Unofficial | Possible copies with delay, gaps, and stale custody data |
Busted Newspaper runs genuine Live Oak tags inside its Suwannee County section. Recently Booked offers a countywide window on fresh bookings. Mugshots.com works better as a historical archive. It can blend county bookings with later Florida corrections profiles. None of them is a government channel for Live Oak. An empty result there means nothing, and a listing says nothing about current custody or how a case ended.
Note: SmartCOP and Clerk records settle identity, custody, and case outcome before any secondary listing deserves weight.
Who Got Busted in Live Oak
The county site pulls double duty. It works as a recent feed and as a deeper lookup tool. The landing screen lists bookings from the past 24 hours, while a custom search digs further. That search accepts a last, first, or middle name, a span of booking dates, a span of release dates, and a filter for current, released, or both. Pick your sort order too. One criterion is the minimum for any query. Keep it narrow and spelled carefully, since a stray middle name or typo can cost you a hit.
- Open the official SmartCOP JAIL View. Check the rolling last-24-hours results for a very recent Live Oak booking.
- For an older event, search by surname or set a booking-date range. Choose both current and released records if custody status is unknown.
- Open a likely match and compare several identifiers. Record the booking number, booking time, arresting agency, charge statute, and court case number.
- Look for Live Oak Police on the applicable charge row. Do not use only a face, common name, or “address given” field to identify someone.
- Take the case number to the official Clerk search. That docket, not the booking card, shows later filings and disposition.
Here is what the status filters tell you. "Current" means the person was in county jail custody when the system last updated, and "released" means that custody has ended. A result may show a thumbnail with an "Enlarge Photo" option, though no official source promises an image on every adult record or guarantees a refresh time. Need firm, up-to-the-minute custody confirmation? Call the jail booking desk at (386) 364-3778. The full roster, feed window, and booking fields are all covered through Suwannee County's busted mugshot search. Note: A custom date range is a user search, not an official weekly Live Oak police blotter.
Live Oak Busted Report Requests
One Live Oak arrest can mean two separate record requests. The reason is simple. Different agencies hold different files. The city keeps the police incident report, the arrest report, and any image LOPD took. SCSO holds the jail booking record and the original booking photograph. No fixed fee, photo price, or delivery timeline is published on the city side. Ask for a narrow set of records and an advance estimate rather than relying on anyone's promise of a quick turnaround.
- Identify the person, approximate arrest date, location, and LOPD report number if known. State that the request seeks an existing police incident or arrest report.
- Send the city request to Public Records Custodian John Gill. Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate before chargeable work begins.
- For the jail image or booking card, contact the SCSO public-records custodian at (386) 364-3417 with the booking number and date.
- If part of a record is withheld, ask the custodian to provide the nonexempt part and identify the legal basis for each redaction.

Florida Chapter 119 opens the door to records that exist and are not exempt. It does not force an agency to build a custom report for you. Certain material stays off limits. That includes some victim, juvenile, medical, and active-investigation content, plus protected addresses and anything sealed or expunged. Keep one more thing in mind. Even when an LOPD report covers the same arrest, the SCSO custodian controls the jail source file.
Live Oak Arrest Dispatch Split
The Live Oak Police Department keeps its office open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closing on weekends and holidays. After hours, calls route to the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office. That handoff is just dispatch support. The agency that handled the incident still owns the report, so a city call that lands with county dispatch does not become a Sheriff's report.
The split deepens once someone is arrested. LOPD writes the incident narrative, probable-cause material, and arrest report. The Suwannee County Jail then handles booking and posts the official SmartCOP entry when processing allows, and the Clerk keeps the court file. So if you want a Live Oak arrest record, name the exact paper you need. Dispatch logs, police reports, booking photos, and court files are different documents.
After-hours non-emergency dispatch for SCSO is (386) 364-3785. Call 911 for emergencies. Send any public-record request to the office that holds the record, never to dispatch.
Live Oak Police Record Source
For city agency details, start with the official Live Oak Police Department page. It gives LOPD identity and contact information. It does not carry a mugshot gallery or a daily arrest feed, so look elsewhere for booking photos.
That page helps you separate city police information from the photo-bearing Suwannee County jail search. Use its records path for LOPD reports. Then turn to SmartCOP for the county booking record.
Live Oak Busted News Sources
Live Oak's Riverbend News runs a multi-county "Jail Report" on a roughly weekly cycle. These digests are text-led and records-derived. They are not a live government feed. One report may span several counties, so hunt for the Suwannee heading. Publication can also lag jail activity, since the paper compiles its material; one sample even noted that another county's data arrived late.
WCTV and WCJB TV20 cover selected Live Oak and Suwannee County incidents. Their stories sometimes carry agency-supplied photos or citations to arrest and court papers. The coverage is episodic, though. It will never include everyone booked on a given day. Treat the former Suwannee Democrat as historical, since the paper no longer publishes.
The wider Suwannee County crime news and mugshot sources page explains how news stories connect to official records. Start with SmartCOP for the booking. Then check the Clerk for the outcome. A news story and its photo capture only one point in time.
After Live Oak Busted Booking
A newly booked person may show up in the rolling 24-hour view. Someone still in custody appears in the current-inmates scope. A person released from the jail may linger in released records. None of these screens gives the final court result. When a Suwannee case later leads to state prison or supervision, the Florida Department of Corrections offender search is the right tool. It does not replace the recent county feed.
The clean trail runs in stages. First the city arrest report, then the county booking and photo, then the court case. A corrections or federal record marks a later custody stage. Keep those stages apart and a released county entry, a state profile, an old news story, or a third-party copy will not be mistaken for current Live Oak custody.
Live Oak ICE Hold Records
SmartCOP can display a hold. Suwannee County also has a published ICE 287(g) Warrant Service Officer agreement covering limited jail functions and custodial transfer after local criminal custody. A hold in a Live Oak booking record reveals nothing about the outcome of an immigration matter. It also cannot tell you whether ICE has already taken custody.
Once ICE assumes custody, its Online Detainee Locator System is the separate post-transfer channel. The county roster is not an ICE locator. The federal locator should not fill gaps in a local criminal case either. Never guess nationality or legal status from a name, a language, an appearance, or a hold field.
